The many benefits of chiropractic care

Since childhood I have had problems with my back. I have two small curvatures in both my upper and lower back. They aren't considered severe but they are just enough to cause me problems.

When I was in 7th grade my mother had regularly been working with a Chiropractor. I started getting more into athletics and was getting some pretty significant pain in my back. She got a reference from a friend of a Chiropractor that treated kids. She took me to him and the rest as they say is history. I have been receiving regular chiropractic care ever since.

Not familiar with chiropractic care? Check out WebMD for more info. Basically a Chiropractor manually manipulates the spine of a patient to treat chronic conditions or injuries (falls, crashes, etc). The hope is that with the spine being in alignment the body will heal itself.

Getting regular treatment from my Chiropractor has helped me have less headaches, back aches and improved my athletic performance. It helped me compete at my best and not be in pain!

Since starting a family I have continued to work with my Chiropractor regularly. These treatments have helped lessen the back pain/strain that comes with pregnancy. They also have helped minimize my issues with asthma and acid reflux. I go for treatment weekly now. I look forward to these sessions as they help me sleep better afterwards.

Check out American Pregnancy Association website for more about the benefits of this kind of treatment for pregnant women.

***Disclosure: I am not a Doctor. Before seeking any type of alternative therapy be sure to work with your Physician or OB. They will tell you if this kind of treatment is safe for you.

  2. It’s true that chiropractic care is safe, even for pregnant women. In fact, spine adjustment can minimize stress on the back when women gain weight due to pregnancy. The better the spine is adjusted, the lesser the labor time over the period. That can prevent the chances of needing caesarian section. Your readers will surely learn a lot from your experience.
