Since I started getting back into running again our oldest has wanted to run in a kids race. He got his started racing back in September of last year when he ran in the kids dash at the Susan Komen Race for the Cure.
His first race was something that I won't forget anytime soon. While waiting for the start another little boy took off and my son thought it was time to run. The two boys conked heads and were ushered back to the start line. Once he got a clean start despite his head injury he ended up being the third kid overall in his heat of close to 10 kids.
He has awesome speed. Yes I am his mother and am obligated to say that. However it is the truth, the kid is fast! Not sure where he got that from as I have no speed but have great endurance.
I did a little research on this and found out that there are some awesome road race options out there for kids. Here are the following races that are taking place in the greater Cleveland area that have kids runs that look cool:
4th Annual Birthday Bash & Dash 5K & 1 Mile Run/Walk , July 4th to benefit Smiles for Sophie Forever:
Run S'More-5K and 1 Mile Family Fun Run-Proceeds to benefit-Pet Rescue-a no kill animal shelter:
