Dean Karnazes running across America to fight childhood obesity

I am now in the process of reading Dean Karnazes's book 50/50: Secrets I Learned Running 50 Marathons in 50 Days -- and How You Too Can Achieve Super Endurance. I just learned about this guy from The Hungry Runner Girl's blog. 50 marathons in 50 days. I slept for almost a half day after I completed both of my marathons. I can't imagine doing 50. He is my new hero.

Karnazes is now partnering up with Regis & Kelly, Walgreens & Eucerin to run across America to fight childhood obesity. He is scheduled to run about 3,000 miles coast to coast. People will be able to run with him in 5K races with all proceeds going to Action for Healthy Kids. According to the Regis & Kelly Website, "Action for Healthy Kids® is the nation’s leading nonprofit and largest volunteer network fighting childhood obesity and undernourishment. We help schools become healthier places and kids learn to eat right, be active every day and be ready to learn. Money raised goes directly to creating healthier schools and combating childhood obesity nationwide."

I am going to sign up to run with him as soon as he hits the East Coast. MapMyRun will be tracking him on his journey, tonight he is in Arizona. For more about the project as well as updates from Karnazes while he is on his journey, check out: http://www.dadt.com/live/special/runacrossamerica/index.html
